Welcome to the Land of Results

My following writing, titled “The Reasons We Get The Desired Results We Want in Life”, is focused on and directed to the form and function of one’s own personality and interactive social practices that I’ve found to be the ideal attitude for people living in this environment. You may want to read on to see if it’s of interest to you and then decide whether you believe that the practice would be beneficial to you. I’m saying this now because I am looking for people who would really benefit from living here. I have found what I’ve said below to be most valuable to aspire to, having lived here for the past 20 years. And I believe this has led to our individual and collective success as well as to a greater fulfillment for those open and receptive to what is written.

As you read on, you will be able to gain some insight into my aspirations and my thoughts. And then you will have the opportunity to share your insights and responses so I can have the opportunity to learn something about you also. Should you care to apply for residency, we will be able to gain a glimpse into our commonalities and possibly the areas of potential conflict. However, I do not want this to be viewed as a required prerequisite or a barrier between us, but hopefully you’ll see it as an insight to benefit from.

The purpose of this section is to spell out and highlight just what I am looking for in the personality and character of applicants.

I also want to include the reasons for my choices and my insights and the reasons that lead me to these choices.   This page is to share with you some of my thoughts, insights and experiences after living here with hundreds of people for 20 years. In that time I have found two general personality types: The first are those who always seem to maintain a hard luck story and the second are those who are providing actual results and therefore a good luck story. Those that are offering reasons, or more specifically I mean excuses, are the ones who wear their story as a badge of honor. The assumption on their part is that the good luck story people will pick up the slack for them-- carry them along. They want you to understand their dilemma or self deception process however you choose to perceive them. This then, can become a scenario of offering up an endless chain of "good reasons!" This is because they are invested in maintaining a justification for their failure to obtain results. But of course, this provides neither them or us the results we all want. The burden of carrying these hard luck cases shifts to others.   YOU!  It has been hard for me to watch good luck people become burdened by the hard luck people. It eventually takes the joy out of the good luck people's lives. I am writing this because I feel I have an obligation and responsibility to prevent this from occurring in the future.

The people I want to live with are those resourceful results oriented people who can find the time, the answers and the correct thinking to keep the process flowing, the rents paid, chores completed and good relationships maintained.

The results people are those that offer you their word and you see that their word will line up with their actions, in short you can count on them. You can trust them, and you know as long as they are around, things will go on smoothly, and things will get done.

So what I am asking you, now, is: "Are you of the personality type that is inclined to offer up results or reasons?" This is what I want to know for myself and also to be able to convey to others who will be living here with you. Make no doubt about it, your conduct, attitude and contributions will impact everyone in the home either positively or negatively. When everyone is making a positive contribution at the retreat and a good impact on the environment, and then of course, upon one another, I can honestly say that this is a Utopia! And this has been seen as worth all the effort and of course what I want everyone to experience while living here. Please recognize it is up to everyone to offer up their individual good results that will keep the retreat Utopian.

Living here we actually have the choice to provide one another either reasons or results. Results are the real payoff we appreciate and aspire to achieve. Reasons, when they are simply excuses, justify our failures while results celebrate our success. There are specific universal reasons for our success and then when we don't succeed we must realize this is true for our failures as well! Rusty's Retreat is not a place to escape to when we don't know how to succeed together, rather it's a place to acquire a space to face yourself, and make that journey within yourself that can transform you! How often do we find ourselves evoking an escape response, that response, which triggers an endless chain of reasons that we are so often tempted to offer up as the facts in order to justify our failures in both our internal and external worlds. But unfortunitually those reasons/excuse people are the people that are offering no substantional results and are not carrying their weight. With reflection and insight we can on the other hand select and embrace the facts that will produce the results we're seeking. When we don't know how to succeed, we see success as a random stroke of luck and failure as no more than just our having bad luck. However, true knowledge, wisdom and experience will reveal to us that the laws of success and failure are always present whether or not we are able to recognize, acknowledge, and live by them. To be able to access the laws of success we must acquire that ability and this is a process of true devotion to the process, which requires a clear desire to face the truth within us and recognize the possibilities before us.

There is the universe of reasoning and the universe of rationalizing. Reasoning is recognizing reality beyond immediate circumstance and rationalizing is justifying our inability to recognize the laws of the universe and the potential we have for living in harmony. Then consequently failing to distinguish that which is left to chance and that which is not necessarily left to chance, but left up to us. Rationalizing is the process of repeating our mistakes. We do this first in our minds, then in our actions and then outwardly to others. When we are on the path of discovery we see that it is we, not the universe, who have left things to chance and we can see what has been left to us. We arrive at a point in consciousness where we recognize that success is up to us and it is we who are the masters of our destiny and not the victims of happenstance.

Reasons are our rationalizations; they are the excuses we offer for justifying our failure to one another and to ourselves in order to excuse our failure rather than obtain the result we would have preferred to be able to provide in a given circumstance. This is due to our lack of insight into our inability to do diligence to the process of determining the strategy and the path of success and of implementing the universal recipe of success that exists for us, but only upon our discovery of this recipe can we succeed. As we gain the insight we recognize the universe offers as many opportunities as we’re prerared to recieve. The preparation, however, is our challenge.

Rusty’s Retreat is an environment where we strive to recognize our responsibilities and the possibilities inherent in every situation. A place where hiding behind reasons can be recognized as our failures to meet up with our greater hopes and responsibilities and thus accomplish our objectives and live in health and gratitude. Living here is the practice of responsibly providing results rather than reasons. It is simply a practice of conscious communication and responsible right action. This is the place we both contemplate and then strive to line up our right thoughts and actions with our words in order to live a life of integrity. A life that is in harmony with the natural law of the universe and with others we encounter. And of course this offers us a life of peace and prosperity.

True health, happiness, and peace of mind are significantly more comprehensive than the absence of their opposites. Health is more than the absense of illness and happiness is more than avoiding anger or depression. A truely lasting peace must go beyond just the elimination of internal conflicts and external wars. To be truely lasting these things must be consciously cultivated into a daily proactive process. Only then will they actually remain consistent in our lives. This is the true possibility of the results of progress at Rusty’s Retreat. When we eliminate our rationalizations about them and recognize the road to results and make the decision to take this road forward, we can look forward to true prosperity in all our endevours.

Results are what we want from our own endeavors as well as from and for one another. I call this our mutual expectation model and this is the model of responsible right relationship and responsible right action. Please let’s not shortchange one another here, nor encumber ourselves when we see the path and the flow that carries us in the process of our life’s journey. To remain prosperous in all our endeavors, is to recognize the karmic connection that might look like luck and happenstance, yet that can be discerned to be the basic laws of the universe that are always at play below the surface of what we may superficially attribute to luck and happenstance. We can always make our luck and rectify our rationalizations. As we do, we see that we are no longer subject to reaction, but find the freedom to consciously respond thru the flow of the energy that is sustaining us as we plug into it.

When we do this, we recognize that by exercising this integrity within our own character we receive all the joy and fulfillment that flies in the face of our past disappointments and failure and we then experience the warmth of insight as it lights our character to a greater recognition and a brighter illumination. So I say ‘Let it shine’ upon you, within you and out thru you, to light the path you walk first for yourself and then for those other pilgrims that will cross your path and follow in your footsteps. This is my hope for you, although it’s presently not a required ambition to live here. However, I do trust it to become part of your life’s process and purpose as a result of your residency.

My desire is to be in a real truth space with you and all those that I share this space with. Do you wish for this kind of communication with those you live with? I trust you would want to live on this plane of openess should you live here.
