Internships

apprenticeship and internship programs now available

This is the home of the orchards and garden areas. It's an on going special retreat under permiculture design and development. As you can see we have plenty of room to continue to expand our projects.

We offer you the choice of either of the above programs

Essentially the apprenticeship involves more supervision and communication. You will be more interactively involved. The bar of prior knowledge and experience is lower than what is required for the internship program.

The internship program here offers a broader scope of projects to engage in. We are quite liberal and expansive by both intention and design. You can either choose an internship that involves a close interactive process or you have the option to actually write a program to engage in.

The following explanation contrasts the differences between the programs.

The apprenticeship program offers you the opportunity to interrelate and cooperatively work with supervision and instruction. Here you have the opportunity to both watch and assist. And there is the availability of having your questions answered as you go. The apprenticeship program is a more structured process than the internship program.

Rusty has a wheelbarrow waiting for you

If you choose to enroll in the internship program you will have the additional challenge to research and find current data and ideas. This program offers you the opportunity to work more independently if you choose to do so. This program offers you the diversity of following an established curriculum or the opportunity to prepare a prospectus describing a personalized program you would like to develop. This of course, requires you to present a defined project and how you wish to accomplish what you proposed. This requires more personal responsibility and self discipline and offers you more flexibility and more independent activity.

The environment you will live in and the interactive process.

Clearing brush our old way. We now try to
compost everything and return it to the soil.

In either of the programs you will share the retreat environment with those living here as year around residents. Meals can be of your own individual and private preparation or you may participate in cooperatively preparing and eating with others. Everyone participates in the daily activities that need to be done. We maintain a clean, quiet, pleasant place to live together.

Your contribution and commitment is as follows:

This is a full time commitment during the length of your stay. yet it is also possible to stay past your apprenticeship period by seeking an extended stay agreement.
